Profile - Claire Duke - High Achiever

Pamela Bryant, Tuesday, 9 August 2005

Claire Duke was born and bred in Tongala and, apart from a few years in Noosa,
has remained close to "Tongy" by settling in Echuca.

A keen sportswomen having made forrays into volleyball, tennis, netball, squash and golf, Claire charged into bowls in 1999,following an article that took her fancy in the local paper.

Her friends gave her "a bit of stick" about choosing this particular sport but soon realised that she was definitely "on to something".

Geoff Cameron, her coach and mentor, has moulded and guided Claire to success after success, and the hunger generated for this game has snowballed into a very impressive resume.

On the work front, Claire feels quite blessed that, having achieved a "Certificate 3 in Sport and Recreation", Moama Bowls Club (her only club thus far), has chosen to take her on as Bowls Administrator. This has allowed Claire to be available for Australian and Victorian representation whenever the call arises.

So for Claire at the moment life is pretty much FULL-ON BOWLS, workwise, play and training. When she does have the odd moment to relax, she chooses to "hang out "with her mates, go to the pictures or enjoy any of many "things to do" in Echuca.

Claire's other hopes for the future are to remain happy, healthy and a long time at the top of the sport she loves. Her chosen bowl at the moment is a 2H Drakes Pride Excel.
