The World of Lawn Bowls

Lawn Bowls literally means the world to Pat McErlean.

As host and producer of the Lawn Bowls World radio show and producer of the Lawn Bowls World website www.LawnBowlsWorld.com.au, you can see why Lawn Bowls is a great passion for McErlean.

The Lawn Bowls World radio show is broadcast on the Sports Entertainment Network (SEN 1116AM) across Melbourne from 7am each Sunday and on the 88-station Radio TAB Australia Network each Sunday from 6.30am across South Australia and the Northern Territory and from 7.00am across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

McErlean first broadcast Lawn Bowls World on 4TAB in Brisbane in 1992.  The Radio TAB Network expanded over the following years to cover the rest of Queensland and – with the growth of the parent company UNiTAB (formerly TAB Queensland) – to cover South Australia and the Northern Territory.

A month before the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, McErlean launched the Lawn Bowls World website, www.LawnBowlsWorld.com.au which included radio interviews from Lawn Bowls players, coaches, administrators and personalities from around the world.

Following on from the success of the website and the show on the Radio TAB Network, McErlean approached the management of SEN 1116AM to broadcast the Lawn Bowls World radio show across Melbourne.

McErlean said he was excited about the future of Lawn Bowls nationally and internationally.

“I am looking forward with great anticipation to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

“The Lawn Bowls event at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 is a pre-curser to an even more exciting chapter in the future of Lawn Bowls with the possibility of Lawn Bowls being included as a sport in the Olympic Games in the future,” he said.

McErlean said he was looking forward to continuing to promote Lawn Bowls nationally and internationally to raise the profile of “the game for all ages”.
